The AAVD Clinic Director/ AEGD Program Director will be responsible for oversight of the AEGD Residency as well as clinical and didactic instruction for the AEGD Residency at the Adopt a Vet Dental Clinic in Reno, Nevada. The AAVD Clinic Director/ AEGD Program Director will be responsible for program design including didactic and clinical coordination of training in collaboration with NYU/Langone.
Responsibilities- Responsible for facilitating a curriculum that accounts for the dynamic nature of person-centered care, including didactic and clinical components, and an educational plan for each resident in collaboration with NYU/Langone.
- Preparing appropriate Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) documentation, including self-study documents, and preparing for site visits.
- Working with the Executive Director to pursue grants and additional funding for this residency.
- Developing recruitment strategies, admission standards, and resident selection processes, including reviewing admission applications and interviewing prospective residents.
- Providing clinical teaching and direct patient care in all disciplines of general dentistry.
- Providing didactic teaching and seminars for the residency.
- Preparing performance evaluations for residents.
- Regular meetings with the Executive Director and CEO to evaluate clinic operations in relation to budget.
- Working closely with the CEO, to ensure successful operation of the residency program.
- Following NYU/Langone guidelines as they relate to the Adopt a Vet Dental Program and AEGD residency.
Skills and Abilities
- Supervisory and leadership skills and experience.
- Public speaking skills, including experience in classroom and clinical teaching situations.
- Basic skills and experience in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and Laws/Regulations pertaining to the practice of dentistry in Nevada.
- DDS or DMD from a Dental School accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Certificate from a CODA accredited General Practice Residency in Dentistry Program, Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program or Armed Forces Comprehensive Dental Residency Program preferred.
- License to practice dentistry in the State of Nevada.
- Work is primarily indoors but may require the incumbent to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between AAVD facilities both in Nevada and potentially out-of-state.
- Performing duties and attending events outside the normally scheduled work hours occasionally occur and are required.
- Traveling off-site to local, state, regional, and/or national events, as well as travel to other AAVD campuses or facilities as required.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time.
- Manual and physical dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
- Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, hand-written forms, and printed on paper.
- Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
- Ability to lift and carry a stack of forms and documents weighing up to 25 pounds.
