Commercial Construction | Procurement / Pre Construction
A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Estimator to join the Procurement/Preconstruction team. This role requires a strategic, detail-oriented professional who can lead competitive bids through creative planning, strong subcontractor relationships, and collaborative teamwork. The Estimator plays a critical role in developing winning strategies and supporting successful project execution.
ResponsibilitiesReview and analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents
Develop bid strategies, identify risks and opportunities, and establish competitive advantages
Identify and prioritize key subcontractors and trade partners for each bid
Direct bid solicitation, pricing coordination, and vendor outreach using bid management platforms
Prepare, write, and review detailed scopes of work for subcontractors
Conduct pre-bid meetings with internal operations teams and subcontractors as needed
Collaborate with operations staff on project logistics, staging, phasing, and coordination plans
Prepare bid day summaries, general requirements, and conceptual bid spreadsheets
Perform accurate quantity takeoffs across applicable CSI Divisions
Price both self-performed and subcontracted work using unit pricing methods
Utilize subcontractor input and field production data to develop and maintain database pricing
Build, strengthen, and maintain long-term subcontractor relationships
Monitor bid coverage and proactively source new subcontractors, particularly in new markets
Review and execute bid forms, bid bonds, and related bid documentation
Review estimates for accuracy, constructability, and risk exposure
Apply professional judgment and experience to establish schedules, priorities, and deadlines
Support the Estimating Department through collaboration and shared workload as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Estimator in commercial construction
Experience estimating projects valued at $5 million or more
Strong understanding of construction means and methods, industry practices, and estimating technology
Demonstrated creativity and innovation to develop competitive bid strategies
Proven ability to independently lead public and private sector bids
Ability to strategically obtain subcontractor coverage, especially in new geographic markets
Experience with
self-performed concrete and carpentry highly preferredProficiency with Timberline
