The Redevelopment Agency (RDA) Intern provides administrative, operational, research, and governance support to advance redevelopment and economic development initiatives. This position offers students and emerging professionals hands‑on exposure to municipal redevelopment operations, public‑sector project coordination, board processes, and community engagement.
The intern will support day‑to‑day operations, assist with preparation for RDA Board and advisory meetings, contribute to research and project tracking efforts, and help facilitate coordination between departments, external partners, and the public. This role provides practical experience in public administration, economic development strategy, public finance, and organizational effectiveness within a municipal government environment.
Selected candidates may be eligible to enroll in a for‑credit internship course through an accredited college or university, consistent with institutional guidelines. Interns typically work approximately 15 hours per week. Some evening availability may be required to support meetings, and public engagement events. Travel to offsite meeting locations within the community may be required.
Interns work alongside the RDA team and support a range of operational, governance, and strategic functions, including:
Administrative & Operational Support- Provide administrative assistance to the RDA staff, including scheduling, correspondence, file management, and document organization
- Assist with tracking redevelopment projects, agreements, timelines, and deliverables
- Support procurement, contracts, and consultant coordination as assigned
- Maintain databases, spreadsheets, shared drives, and internal tracking tools to ensure accuracy, organization, and version control
- Assist in organizing records and documentation to improve transparency and operational efficiency
- Assist with preparation for RDA Board, advisory board, and committee meetings
- Compile agendas, staff reports, presentations, resolutions, and supporting materials
- Proofread and quality‑check board‑facing documents for clarity, consistency, and readiness
- Provide meeting support, including logistics, check‑in, note‑taking, and public participation coordination
- Track action items and assist with post‑meeting follow‑up and document archiving
- Conduct research related to redevelopment, economic development, infrastructure, grants, and policy best practices
- Summarize research findings into clear, concise briefing materials, memos, and visual presentations
- Assist with data collection and analysis for reports, performance tracking, and internal decision‑making
- Support development of fact sheets, summaries, and materials for leadership and board use
- Contribute to special projects related to redevelopment strategy, operational improvements, and organizational effectiveness
- Assist with grant research, tracking, reporting, and compliance documentation
- Support development and documentation of standard operating procedures and internal workflows
- Contribute ideas that promote transparency, improved coordination, and effective execution of redevelopment priorities

- Current enrollment in upper‑division coursework at an accredited college or university is desirable, but not required; applicants with relevant experience are encouraged to apply
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with professional attention to detail
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Docs, Sheets)
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong customer service skills, including professional communication and responsiveness
- Interest in local government, redevelopment, economic development, public policy, planning, finance, housing, or civic engagement
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required
- Familiarity with municipal government operations or public meeting processes
- Experience with research, data analysis, report writing, or presentation development
- Bilingual Spanish‑English skills highly desirable
- Part‑time internship; schedule coordinated based on academic requirements and department needs
- Approximately 15 hours per week
- Some evening attendance required for public or stakeholder meetings
