A Tractor Trailer Driver drives gasoline-powered or diesel-powered tractor trailers. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional work week, which may require some evening, weekend, holiday or callback duty. Work is performed in vehicles where inclement weather, poor driving conditions, traffic and equipment hazards, odors or toxic chemicals are encountered. Work requires moderate physical exertion.
Minimum Qualifications- Three years of experience in the operation of a tractor trailer, or earth moving logging, highway or utility maintenance equipment.
- Valid Maryland Class A Commercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management.

- Skill in the safe operation of a tractor trailer.
- Skill in the safe operation of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, cranes, track loaders, front-end loaders, large tow trucks, tandem dump trucks or other similar equipment.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance checks.
- Ability to follow directions.
NOTE:
Those eligibles who are under final consideration for appointments to positions in this class will be required to authorize the release of criminal conviction information.
All people, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
EligibilityQualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
Education AccreditationApplicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained es.org.

ExaminationProcess
