About the CompanyWe are working with a major UK financial services organisation that has already embedded AI across multiple operational teams and is now scaling its capability further. With numerous live AI applications supporting frontline colleagues, the business is investing heavily in expanding its AI function and strengthening leadership across engineering.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a growing AI team and help shape the direction of applied AI across a large, customer-facing organisation.
What You’ll Be Doing- Lead and develop a team of AI engineers, supporting both their technical growth and career progression
- Set engineering standards and guide best practices across research, experimentation, and production delivery
- Define and evolve the AI roadmap, aligning use cases with long-term platform strategy
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities for generative AI and advanced analytics
- Oversee the full lifecycle of AI initiatives, from early scoping through to live deployment and measurable business impact
- Contribute hands‑on to model development, prompt design, and production integration where required
- Help ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with governance and regulatory requirements
- Act as a senior voice within the wider data and technology function, influencing strategy and capability building
- Strong experience delivering AI solutions into production environments, with clear evidence of commercial impact
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding engineers in a fast‑moving environment
- Deep knowledge of advanced NLP techniques, including prompt engineering and working with large language models in live systems
- Ability to take research concepts and turn them into robust, production‑ready services
- Confidence working both independently and within cross‑functional teams
- Experience operating within regulated or complex enterprise environments is desirable
- Clear communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
