Job Description

Reports to
:
Ink Department Lead

Summary

Prepares inks, solvents, and varnish to customer specifications, filling and replenishing supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares production equipment such as dispensing ink, varnish, solvents, and ink pumps.
  • Verifies if solvents are sufficient, assembles pumps to specifications, and identifies drum covers according to press unit, color, and ink number.
  • Keep all pumps in good condition.
  • Mix inks and solvents specifications, filling and replenishing supplies as required.
  • Replenish and adjust ink supply to press.
  • Maintain consistency in color and viscosity.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory of consignment and work off inks, completing all necessary paperwork to ensure available supplies.
  • Ensure ink viscosity is correctly timed for flow in test cup according to standard.
  • Observe performance of ink and provide feedback to appropriate personnel.
  • Weigh and measure according to formula components for correct color pigment; prepare new batches when necessary.
  • Assist press crew when required.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is processed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for cleanup of ink dispensing equipment and general housekeeping of all work areas.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with safe work practices and follow PPE requirements.
  • Support all 9001 standards and quality objectives.
  • Understand OHSC obligations and actively support the policy and guiding principles in everyday activities.
  • Complies with GMP, HACCP Food Safety requirements and chain of custody program requirements.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years experience in a printing/packaging environment.
  • Knowledge of inks; computer skills for color matching and use of ink dispensing equipment is essential.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing, stooping, bending, reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and manual dexterity requirements; hearing and speaking ability.
  • Must be able to hold, touch, feel and manipulate with hands product and equipment safely.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Shift rotation flexibility and availability to work extended hours as needed to meet customer product needs.
