Beebe Healthcare is growing, and our Specialty Surgical Hospital is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse II to support high-quality surgical and orthopedic care across both our Rehoboth Surgical Unit and the Lewes Orthopedic Unit. This is a part-time, night shift position, ideal for nurses who bring compassion, teamwork, and strong clinical judgment to every shift and thrive in a collaborative care environment.
In this flexible, hands-on role, you’ll care for post-surgical and orthopedic patients, complete thorough assessments, implement timely interventions, and collaborate closely with our interdisciplinary team during overnight hours. You’ll play a key role in supporting safe recovery, patient education, and exceptional outcomes. Nurses in this position will be trained and competent to rotate between both units, ensuring seamless, high-quality patient care systemwide.
ResponsibilitiesPrimary Responsibilities
Deliver patient-centered nursing care to post-surgical and orthopedic patients, ensuring comfort, safety, and optimal recovery outcomes.
Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate changes to the appropriate members of the healthcare team.
Clinical Judgment & Time Management
Prioritize patient care responsibilities effectively using strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and time management skills.
Adapt quickly to changing patient needs in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Documentation & Safety
Accurately document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the electronic medical record.
Adhere to all safety protocols, infection prevention guidelines, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe care environment.
Patient & Family Education
Educate patients and families on post-operative care, medications, mobility, and recovery expectations.
Support confident discharge planning by reinforcing instructions and ensuring understanding.
Team Collaboration & Delegation
Delegate tasks appropriately and provide supervision, guidance, and support to nursing assistants and other support staff.
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
Professional Development & Quality Improvement
Participate in unit-based councils, shared governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competency and support evidence-based practice.
- Acute care/hospital experience
- Strong communication, teamwork, and EMR skills
- Orthopedic Nurse Certification (ONC) preferred
- DE or Compact RN license
- BLS and NIH Stroke Certification
- ACLS (within 6 months of hire)
- RN, Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
