This includes the provision of technical services for engineering activities or project requirements, ensuring sound application of engineering and industry practices, technological advancements; and identification and recommendation of effective business solutions to support departmental and corporate objectives.
Position Details
Non-union. This position is permanent full time.
Key Accountabilities
Prepare, review and approve engineering designs, software implementations, standards, design specifications and business reports. This includes making provisions for public and employee safety in accordance with legislated requirements.
Manage assigned projects and/or programs of a multidisciplinary or complex nature involving engineering design, construction and on-site commissioning of project related corporate assets to ensure projects proceed safely, are on budget and are executed according to planned schedules.
Oversee contract staff performing programming services on facility assets. Provide direction and ensure that the work performed adheres to internal programming standards/processes, is reviewed for quality in execution and is carried out safely.
Provide technical support by applying advanced engineering principles in the investigation, analysis and resolution of problems.
Develop and deliver technical training to field staff as required.
Assist with the development of plans and business cases to optimize complex systems, technologies & facilities while challenging current practices for capital strategic & operational projects, automation standards and support strategies.
Maintain an awareness of industry developments and best practices.
Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Electronics Systems is preferred)
Professional Engineer Designation qualified to practice in Saskatchewan.
Five (5) years of progressive engineering experience related to the automation of pipeline and compression facilities in the oil and gas industry; demonstrated competency in process automation and programming that includes complex problem solving and project management; strong working knowledge and understanding of natural gas industry practices and industry standards.
Oil & Gas automation knowledge pertaining to Allen Bradly PLC (5/ SLC 500/Control Logix) systems would be considered an asset.
An Engineer-in-training may also be considered as a path to advance to a Professional Engineer.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information
Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters is required.
This job requires significant travel time.
A Class 5 Driver's License is required.
