Job Description & How to Apply Below
Rockford Engineering Works Ltd. is a consulting and engineered-to-order equipment manufacturer. We design, build, and deliver heavy industrial equipment tailored to the unique needs of our clients across Saskatchewan and beyond, from first concept through fabrication, assembly, commissioning, and ongoing aftermarket support.
What sets Rockford apart is our ability to integrate everything under one roof. We combine mechanical, fluid power, electrical and automation engineering with in-house manufacturing and field support. This end-to-end approach ensures our designs can be built, maintained, and trusted to perform long after delivery.
At Rockford, you won’t just be part of projects – you’ll be part of delivering real machines that make an impact for our clients. We value excellence, accountability, and teamwork, and we provide opportunities for people to grow while contributing to challenging and meaningful work.
Position Overview
As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately developing cost estimates for engineered-to-order industrial equipment and manufacturing projects.
This position works collaboratively with Key Account Managers, Project Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing and Rockford’s supply chain to take qualified opportunities and develop complete estimates. This includes validating scope, defining required engineering and manufacturing effort, determining materials requirements and costs, documenting assumptions and risks, and preparing structured Cost Estimates using standardized templates.
The Senior Estimator plays a critical role in ensuring Rockford makes informed commercial commitments. This role requires strong technical judgement and significant manufacturing experience, with the ability to estimate engineering effort, steel fabrication, machining, and machine assembly work both in-house and on-site for complex, innovative heavy industrial equipment.
This position requires the ability to manage multiple estimates in parallel, balance competing proposal timelines, and maintain estimating accuracy and documentation under tight deadlines.

Negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to secure optimal pricing
Develop engineering, manufacturing, and procurement cost estimates that reflect realistic effort, fabrication complexity, machining requirements, assembly sequencing, and material pricing.
Identify high impact cost items, risk areas, and execution constraints, and document assumptions and exclusions prior to pricing decisions.
Prepare complete, structured, and ready for review estimate packages using standardized templates to support internal proposal reviews.
Participate in structured internal reviews and support informed commercial decision-making before proposal submission.
Manage multiple estimates concurrently, balancing competing proposal timelines and priorities while maintaining estimating accuracy and documentation discipline.
Review estimate VS actual project performance data post-project and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating methods.
