Description   NATURE OF WORK:  This position performs professional engineering duties related to the Citys transportation systems. This position performs engineering analysis, preliminary and detailed designs, contract administration and project management for infrastructure planning and improvement projects. This position reports to a Senior Engineer in the Integrated Engineering Services Branch.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare preliminary and detailed designs for transportation projects.
Prepare specifications and contracts, perform bid analysis and recommend award of contracts.
Provide contract administration and general engineering during the planning and design of transportation systems capital projects.
Prepare Terms of Reference for proposed projects and review proposals for engineering services.
Manage and review the work of engineering consultants and contractors.
Review drawings, specifications, plans and applications from engineering consultants and developers to make sure they meet City specifications.
Develop and manage projects and budgets.
Approve expenditures and other transactions within limits of authority and take necessary action to protect civic monies and assets against loss and waste.
Represent the Department and participate in meetings of Committee and Council, and other departments meetings.
