JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of Generation Civil Engineering Services team with Engineering and Construction, this position is responsible for providing engineering design, technical support, contract and consultant management for capital projects related to existing and new power plants infrastructures.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide structural and civil engineering design services, including technical specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
- Prepare RFP, RFQs, SOWs for design services and supply and install contracts.
- Provide contract administration including planning, execution, monitoring and controlling cost, schedule, and risk.
- Develop and review functional and performance requirements for capital projects.
- Participate in project definition, options analysis, and feasibility studies.
- Support procurement activities, tender evaluation, and contract administration.
- Contribute to project management plans, cost and resource estimates, and regular team meetings.
- Provide technical assistance during construction, including site visits and contract administration.
- Collaborate with internal management, operation staff, and external consultants in a multidiscipline environment to produce design deliverables with the appropriate level of detail.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Mentor and provide guidance to engineers-in-training, technologists, and junior staff.
- Provide direction to consultants and other external technical agencies as required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGS.
- A minimum of six (6) years post P. Eng. experience in structural/civil design.
- Technical proficiency in structural engineering design and analysis.
- Knowledge of design software (STAAD, SAP
2000, etc.). - Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CSA A23.1/23.2, S16, S6304, NBCC, ACI
318, AISC, ASCE 7 etc.). - Demonstrated experience in contract management and technical writing.
- Experience with geotechnical studies, site surveys, and subsurface site evaluation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
- Ability to provide leadership and mentoring, including, coaching and development of technical staff including engineers, engineers-in-training and other resources as required
- Ability to work and manage in a changing environment
