Job Description
We are currently seeking a qualified Environmental Advisor to join our Mining team, based out of Bethune, SK. The Environmental Advisor will be responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of the project site’s environmental management program and ensuring compliance with permits, regulations, project-specific Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and Construction Environmental Control Plans (CECP). This role involves close collaboration with teams - engineering, procurement, construction—ensuring environmental considerations are integrated across all phases of project delivery.
Bantrel is working with K+S Potash (KSPC) as an Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT), to expand the KSPC Bethune Potash Mine near Moose Jaw Saskatchewan from 2.2 to 3.0M tonnes per annum over the next 5 years. The final production capacity is intended to grow over decades to 4M tonnes per year, doubling the current production output of potash. Key personnel will support the project from Saskatoon and Bethune, with additional support staff supporting from Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto.

- Conduct environmental site inspections, field audits, and monitoring throughout construction. Provide detailed compliance reports.
- Develop, implement, and improve environmental management plans (EMS, CECP, spill response, waste & erosion control).
- Support project teams by interpreting environmental legislation, regulations, and permit obligations. Liaise with regulatory agencies for permitting and compliance discussions.
- Maintain environmental registers: aspects/impacts, risk, incidents, and non-conformances. Track and report on key performance metrics.
- Draft and submit compliance reports, permit applications, technical reports, dashboards, and meeting minutes.
- Deliver environmental awareness training and support toolbox talks for staff and contractors.
- Lead or contribute to spill response, incident investigations, and corrective action plans.
- Provide technical guidance on environmental best practices related to waste, biodiversity, air, water, soil, and hazardous materials.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- 3–5 years in environmental field roles, preferably within, construction, oil & gas, or mining projects.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial environmental regulations, permitting frameworks, and best management practices.
- Ability to conduct field inspections, interpret lab and monitoring data.
- Competency in environmental management systems (ISO / EMS) and tools like GIS is an asset.
- Excellent communication—able to deliver training and liaise with clients, regulators, and contractors.
- CEC (Certified Environmental Compliance), NEBOSH, or similar certifications are advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license, with a clean drivers abstract with the ability to travel to project sites as needed.
