Position: Instructor Pilot – G120TP – Basic Flying Training (BFT)
Location: Moose Jaw

The BFT Instructor Pilot will join a team of military‑trained instructor pilots to support the delivery of dynamic training for students learning to fly and operate the G120TP
trainer. During the build‑up to commencement of training, the BFT Instructor Pilot will support the design and development of the future RCAF pilot training system by:

  • Undertaking aircraft type conversion training

  • Supporting the design and development of courseware (classroom, synthetic training devices, and live flying sequences)

  • Supporting acceptance testing of courseware, synthetic training devices, and aircraft

  • Supporting the establishment of an integrated training centre (policy and procedure development)

  • Supporting integration and testing of Information Management systems (e.g., Learning systems)

  • Testing lesson plans for synthetic training devices and G120TP
    Air Lesson Plans (ALPs)

  • Roles and Responsibilities (Steady‑State Operations):

    Once steady‑state training has commenced, the BFT Instructor Pilot will maintain an instructional category as a CQFI and:

  • Deliver training in the classroom, on synthetic training devices, and in the G120TP
    aircraft

  • Maintain flying proficiency, category, and currency IAW B‑GA‑100, RCAF FOM, 2 CFFTS Orders and CQFI SOW

  • Execute instructional sorties in accordance with RCAF instructional doctrine

  • Conduct all missions in the BFT syllabus (including cross‑country and out‑and‑back missions)

  • Assist the Flight Commander in monitoring instructor continuity of assigned students

  • Prepare and conduct presentations/briefings on instructional topics, including A Category ground school

  • Follow CAF Flight Safety program and protocols IAW A‑GA‑135‑001/AA‑001

  • Support the customer in writing, maintaining, and reviewing procedures, manuals, and documents

  • Support OA and TA organizations internally and externally as a subject matter expert

  • Participate in periodic reviews of courseware and procedures

  • Contribute to ongoing courseware improvement and maintenance

  • Perform Maintenance Test Pilot duties as assigned

  • CQFI Requirements:
    CQFIs must be qualified to instruct Clearhood, Instrument, Navigation, Formation, and Composite missions. They may also be tasked in Standards, staff development, and/or QFI training based on performance.

    Currency Requirements:
    The Instructor Pilot is responsible for maintaining RCAF currency and proficiency requirements, including:

  • Aeromedical Training IAW CADO 5‑301

  • Spatial Disorientation Training

  • Centrifuge Training

  • Escape Systems/Ground Egress Training

  • ALSE Training

  • Sea Survival Training

  • Air Operations Survival – Land

  • Servicing Training (cross‑country flights)

  • St. John Ambulance First Aid (CPR/AED)

  • Fire prevention/extinguisher training (every four years)


  • Minimum Qualifications

    For candidates with no prior military experience:

  • Minimum 500 hours of flying time in a single‑pilot, high‑performance aeroplane

  • Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence

  • Hold or previously held a Transport Canada Instructor Rating

  • For candidates with prior military experience:

  • Military experience demonstrated through an acceptable Prior Learning Assessment

  • All candidates must meet the following:

  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, verbal communication)

  • Military or professional flying experience within the last 10 years

  • Unrestricted TC Category 1 medical + any RCAF‑required medical exams

  • Meet aircraft weight and anthropometric limits

  • Ability to pass a security evaluation per Controlled Goods Directorate requirements

  • Able to obtain required re‑transfer authorizations under US ITAR regulations

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous NFTC QFI or Grob G120TP
    QFI experience

  • Flying supervisory or military flight leadership experience

  • Flight lead experience in trainer or fighter aircraft

  • Military instructional experience

  • RAWC Operational Test & Evaluation Course (or RCAF‑recognized equivalent)

  • Verbal French skills
