We are recruiting for an Urgent Care Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team in one of our state‑of‑the‑art health centers. Urgent Care Medical Assistants are expected to be available to work Monday‑Friday from 12 PM‑9 PM, weekends, and some holidays.
Experienced Medical Assistants and/or new graduates are welcomed.
Our Medical Assistants go above and beyond, take pride in listening to patients, and provide excellent patient care. United Health Centers seeks someone who can communicate clearly and warmly with a diverse patient population and who has the technical skills to assist providers in patient care.
- Provide prompt medical support; promote smooth patient flow; collect and record data accurately; maintain order of exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
- Provide basic education and information to patients, ensuring questions are answered and anxieties alleviated; interface with community‑oriented activities and staff.
- Assist in achieving the organizational mission to provide health care access for all community members. Help ensure patients and families receive needed care when required.
- Communicate consistently and openly with supervisors and staff.
- Work flexible or extended hours when necessary.
- Participate in health center in‑services and meetings, listening to and respecting others’ ideas.
- Abide by Rules of Confidentiality.
- High School graduate or GED.
- Completed a Medical Assisting training program at an accredited college.
- Valid CPR certificate.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Preferably 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
- Ability to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds.
- Customer‑service oriented.
- Strong computer skills.
- Familiarity with adult learning and general training techniques.
- Positive professional insight.
- Flexibility and dependability.
- Good problem‑solving skills; sound judgment.
- Effective leadership/supervisory skills.
- Modern office practices and procedures, including email.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Attention to detail and excellent follow‑through on work tasks.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).
- Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those served in‑person, and speak clearly to communicate information to patients and staff.
- Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms, and clinical and administrative documents.
- Must have high manual dexterity.
- Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend, squat, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, and twist/turn.
The hourly wage range for this position starts at $21 an hour. Salaries depend on knowledge, skills, and experience.
