ResponsibilitiesProviding instruction in Communications on the Madera Community College campus and/or at off-site locations. The instructor will be responsible for:
- Teaching introductory public speaking, interpersonal communication, argumentation, persuasion, group communication, and other courses offered by the department;
- Participating in appropriate professional meetings and workshops;
- Participating in program development and expansion of communication courses, including connections with industry and Career and Guided Pathways;
- Participating in curriculum development and program planning;
- Assisting in the establishment of extracurricular activities in the department;
- Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed;
- Participating in program review, student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning;
- Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off-campus and large group instruction classes as needed;
- Fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of faculty as required by Administrative Regulation 7122;
- Other duties as assigned.
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and equity-minded practice in the classroom. Requirements include:
- Master's in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication or organizational communication; or
- Bachelor's in any of the above and master's in drama/theater arts, mass communication or English; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- Equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency).
