Under the general direction of the Associate Dean, Athletics and Dean of Instruction, the Vice President of Student Services, and in conformance with State, League and District policies, the Head Football Coach/Health & Physical Education Instructor will work in various settings and times, including evenings/weekends, online or off-campus as needed. The coach/instructor will be responsible for:

• Providing direction for all facets of a successful football program, including selection and oversight of assistant coaches.
• Leading and developing the student-athlete recruiting process for football in compliance with 3C2A regulations to attract prospects, including recruiting assignments for assistants as appropriate.
• Building strong relations between the community and the athletic department, particularly with district high schools.
• Ensuring program compliance within the sport program with 3C2A regulations; establishing procedures to ensure staff and student-athletes comply; communicating disciplinary consequences; reporting violations as required.
• Creating a positive atmosphere for student-athletes; supporting academic progress, retention, and matriculation through mentoring; referring students to support services; maintaining confidential student information.
• Providing instruction, mentoring, and coaching to student-athletes in skills, techniques, and strategies for individual and team performance.
• Evaluating performance and refining strategies throughout the season.
• Planning and scheduling competitions in collaboration with coaches and in concert with academic schedules and policy.
• Providing referrals to prospective student-athletes to academic and student services as appropriate.
• Working with athletic counselors to help student-athletes complete academic requirements and transfer goals.
• Developing and implementing appropriate fundraising activities in accordance with College and District policies.

• Teaching courses within the Physical Education Program, depending on qualifications and experience.
• Supporting, mentoring, and advising students, including weekly office hours on campus.
• Contributing to curriculum and program development and assessment of student learning outcomes.
• Assisting in advancing the institutional mission and goals.
• Serving on department, college, and district committees as needed.
• Participating in program review and SLO assessment to improve student learning.
• Fulfilling duties of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and equity-minded practices. Candidates must meet one of the following:

• Master's in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education with two years of related experience; or
• Bachelor's in any of the above and Master's in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, physical therapy, or equivalent with two years of related experience; or
• A valid California Community College credential; or
• Equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency).
