Responsibilities

Providing instruction in Psychology on the Reedley College campus and/or at off-site locations. The instructor will be responsible for:

  • Teaching a full schedule of transfer-level psychology courses (e.g., general psychology, honors general psychology, social psychology, abnormal psychology, human sexuality, lifespan development, introduction to research methods in psychology, biological psychology, statistics for the behavioral sciences).
  • Developing curriculum and establishing new classes and programs.
  • Maintaining currency in psychology and staying engaged with the community and campus organizations.
  • Participating in program development and expansion of communication courses, including industry and career connections and Guided Pathways.
  • Identifying, interviewing, and recommending potential adjunct faculty; assisting in evaluating adjunct instructors.
  • Serving on department, college, and district committees as needed.
  • Participating in program review, student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning.
  • Teaching in various settings and times, including evenings, weekends, online or off-campus, and large group instruction as needed.
  • Fulfilling duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students in relation to equity-minded practice in the classroom; and

  • Master’s in Psychology; or
  • Bachelor’s in Psychology and Master’s in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience or social work; or
  • A valid California Community College Credential; or
  • Equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency).

Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience and skill incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities;
  • Experience working with racially minoritized students and understanding historical patterns of exclusion in higher education;
  • Experience with students from diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities;
  • Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices to engage racially minoritized students;
  • Experience teaching psychology courses;
  • Desirable knowledge of statistics and behavioral research; ability to develop new curriculum and programs;
  • Effective communication with students and staff; proficiency with instructional technologies;
  • Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.
Conditions Of Employment

178 duty days per year, prorated based on start date.

Salary And Benefits

Starting annual salary is $71,054 - $106,970 based on education and experience. A doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage for employee and dependents, life insurance, and CalSTRS retirement.
