OverviewAt Reedley College we value the ability to serve students from a broad range of cultural heritages, socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, abilities and orientations. The Counselor, STEM Pathway will lead equity‑minded initiatives to support student success within the STEM pathway.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive counseling services to students, including academic, career, personal, and life transitions.
- Assist with major selection, developing Student Education Plans (SEPs), and aligning with Guided Pathways.
- Support Guided Pathways, Student Equity Achievement (SEA), and other student success initiatives.
- Collaborate in developing programs and student support services to improve access, retention, and completion.
- Assist with matriculation, outreach, and recruitment activities.
- Provide referrals to on/off‑campus resources such as EOPS, CalWORKs, Career/Transfer & Employment Center, DSP&S, Financial Aid, etc.
- Participate in meetings, conferences, trainings, and professional development.
- Provide assistance to new and prospective students with college applications and orientation.
- Maintain program website and ensure accurate student‑facing content.
- Monitor compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and revise curriculum and assess student learning outcomes.
- Participate in the accreditation process.
- Utilize technology for classroom presentations and data analysis.
- Train new counselors and maintain electronic counseling records.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff from various departments to implement equitable interventions.
- Contribute to unit goals, outcome data collection, and program reviews.
- Serve on committees, attend meetings, and fulfill duties per Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Responsive to and understands diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Master’s degree in counseling or related field, or Bachelor’s degree with an MFT license, or valid California Community College Credential, or equivalent education/experience (equivalency required if titles differ).
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities.
- Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students.
- Experience with students of varied cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including disabled students.
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices.
- Proficiency with technology for student support and data collection.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement innovative teaching methodologies and SEPs.
- Commitment to teamwork, and ability to adapt methods to varied learning styles.
- Knowledge of student development theories and success initiatives such as SEA and Guided Pathways.
- Membership in professional organizations is a plus.
178–181 duty days per year, contingent upon funding. Duty days will be prorated based on start of assignment.
Salary and BenefitsAnnual salary ranges from $71,054 to $108,773, based on education and experience.
Annual doctoral stipend $2,419.
Fringe benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, life insurance, and CalSTRS.
