- Determine qualifications and appropriate individual support programs for students with disabilities, providing direct personal, vocational, and academic counseling services;
- Meet with faculty and other academic staff as necessary to support the individual educational programs of students;
- Provide liaison services between students with disabilities, faculty, staff, and appropriate campus and community support systems;
- Facilitate accommodations by making service referrals to students with physical, learning, and psychological disabilities;
- Determine and document educational limitations and appropriate accommodations for students in the DSP&S program;
- Assist students to clarify and identify educational goals, develop student educational plans and contracts, and select appropriate courses to meet goal requirements;
- Conduct student follow‑up, monitor student progress and academic standing, and monitor accommodations and student needs;
- Assist students with disabilities to transition to and be successful in the college environment;
- Maximize student success by collaborating with other student services and instructional faculty;
- Develop and maintain competency regarding knowledge of College programs, services, policies and procedures;
- Utilize and keep abreast of advanced counseling methods, including the use of technology;
- Organize and offer various support groups, instruction and programs for students with disabilities;
- Interpret diagnostic test results to students and counselors, and parents if applicable;
- Perform other related duties as requested;
- Participate in participatory governance committees, processes, and initiatives such as Guided Pathways;
- Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed;
- Participate in program review, student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning;
- Assignments in a variety of settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, on‑line or off‑campus and large group instruction classes as needed;
- Otherwise fulfill all of the duties and responsibilities as assigned and as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity‑minded practices; and
