Responsibilities- Teaching both lecture and laboratory classes in Biology including majors, developmental, and transfer level courses, human anatomy and human physiology.
- Maintaining instruments used in teaching Biology.
- Teaching the principles and applications of Biology instrumentation.
- Assisting in the coordination of laboratory facilities and assuring the availability of supplies and equipment.
- Evaluating and mentoring part‑time instructors.
- Implementing appropriate practices to develop writing skills at all levels.
- Participating in the accreditation process.
- Communicating effectively with students and staff.
- Developing classroom presentations using multimedia tools.
- Advising students participating in college/district committees.
- Cooperating with regard to scheduling classes between colleagues in the same pathway.
- Participating in student recruiting and mentoring activities.
- Participating in curriculum and program review and/or development or revision, student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning.
- Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed.
- Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, on‑line or off‑campus and large group instruction classes as needed.
- Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of faculty as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Other duties as assigned.
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity‑minded practice within the classroom.
- Master’s in any biological science.
- Bachelor’s in any biological science and master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science.
- A valid California Community College Credential.
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency).

- Experience teaching at the post‑secondary level.
- Broad based academic background in biology.
- Knowledge of current laboratory safety procedures.
- Experience in maintaining instruments used in teaching biology.
