Essential Functions: Madera Community College values diversity and equity; the successful candidate will lead student success through collaboration with faculty, staff, administration, students, and community partners. An equity‑minded individual demonstrates:
The instructor will provide instruction in Mechanized Agriculture on campus and/or at off‑site community campus locations and will be responsible for:
- Teaching agriculture mechanics classes such as Introduction to Agricultural Mechanics, Introduction to Agricultural Welding, Small Gasoline and Diesel Engines, Electrical and Hydraulics Fundamentals, Agricultural Welding Fabrication, and more.
- Assisting in the operation of the Mechanized Agriculture budget, facilities and programs.
- Developing a Mechanized Agriculture advisory committee and coordinating advisory committee meetings at least twice a year.
- Providing advice and mentorship for students within the department.
- Participating in recruitment activities with high school agricultural programs such as FFA competitive events and student leadership activities.
- Participating in Program Review and Student Learning Outcome development and assessment to improve student learning.
- Providing leadership in the development and implementation of new curriculum and academic programs that are in demand.
- Staying current in the discipline and participating in appropriate professional development activities.
- Increasing enrollment and completion, assisting students in job placement, and follow‑up with students in work experience and internship/externship opportunities.
- Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees.
- Assisting with the development and management of local, state and federal grants.
- Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off‑campus and large group instruction classes as needed.
- Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of full‑time equivalent professional experience; or
- Associate degree and six (6) years of full‑time equivalent professional experience; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
Desirable
Qualifications:
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
- Recent experience working with racially minoritized students in the classroom.
- Experience working with students of diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds including students with disabilities.
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices to more effectively engage racially minoritized students.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff; work with computers and other technologies; professional competency in agriculture mechanics; develop new curriculum in heavy‑duty truck technology classes; use current educational technology methods and tools; knowledge of assessment methods and materials.
- Commitment to professional growth and membership in professional organizations.
Conditions of Employment: 178 duty days per year.
Salary and Benefits: Starting annual salary is $71,054 – $106,970 based on education and experience. Annual doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. Fringe benefits include medical, dental, vision coverages and life insurance. Employees are members of the California State Teacher’s Retirement System (CalSTRS).
