Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses for biology majors and non‑majors.
- Develop and maintain biology curriculum and a transfer degree program.
- Order equipment and supplies for laboratory sections.
- Cooperate with colleagues in course scheduling.
- Participate in curriculum review and program development revision.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, campus and community organizations.
- Advise students and participate in student recruitment activities.
- Participate in the accreditation process.
- Evaluate adjunct instructors.
- Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed.
- Teach in a variety of instructional settings, including evenings, weekends, online, and off‑campus.
- Master's degree in a biological science or equivalent education and experience.
- Valid California Community College Credential, or petition for equivalency.
- Evidence of responsiveness to diverse student backgrounds and understanding of equity‑minded practice in the classroom.
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
- Recent experience teaching human biology, human anatomy, microbiology, or physiology to majors and non‑majors.
- Strong background in anatomy and/or physiology and experience teaching at the higher education level.
- Demonstrated desire to innovate and lead anatomy and/or physiology courses.
- Knowledge of student success models and assessment methods.
178 duty days per year.
Salary and BenefitsStarting annual salary $71,054 - $106,970 based on education and experience. Annual doctoral stipend $2,419. Comprehensive fringe benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and CalSTRS retirement.
Selection ProcedureApplicants will be screened for completeness and minimum qualifications. A selection advisory committee will review qualified candidates and invite selected individuals to interview. Interview levels:
First level March 2–8, 2026;
Final interviews March 16–22, 2026. Final hiring recommendation will be approved by the Board of Trustees.
