Position Overview

Registered Nurses are needed for our Medical‑Surgical unit. We are hiring one full‑time (1.0 FTE) and two part‑time (0.5 FTE each) positions. A typical shift is 8 hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands‑on care to patients, practicing in an evidence‑based manner.
  • Practice within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirement, standards of care, and hospital policies.
  • Perform all steps of the nursing process, including assessing patients; interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating care; coordinating care with other providers; and teaching the patient and family the knowledge and skills needed to manage their care and prevent complications.
  • Partner with the patient’s family wherever possible, considering all aspects of care, to deliver family centered care.
  • Monitor the quality of nursing care provided.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional development, including licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications, and maintaining current knowledge regarding the assigned patient population.
  • Contribute to the profession of nursing through such activities as teaching others and sharing expertise in unit or hospital wide.
  • Perform patient assessments and triage; record patient histories, symptoms and observations.
  • Establish and implement nursing care plans for each patient through assessment, development, activation and evaluation.
  • Participate in patient case conferences and rounds.
  • Organize, assign and supervise duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader; orient and teach new staff members of the nursing team and students.
  • Perform nursing care following prescribed rules, policies, protocol and procedures.
  • Identify problems, assist in data gathering, propose solutions and participate in evaluation of quality assurance issues.
  • Work with patients and their families to provide in‑hospital and after‑hospital follow‑up through teaching and referral.
  • Participate in educational programs to maintain level of expertise.
  • Operate a variety of medical machinery and equipment.
  • Administer treatment and medications.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Develop discharge plans for patients.
Qualifications and Licensure
  • Possession of a California license as a Registered Nurse or equivalent.
  • Possession and maintenance of BLS certification.
  • Possession and maintenance of ACLS certification.
  • Possession and maintenance of Oncology Nursing certification within three months of hire.
  • Recent acute inpatient medical‑surgical experience of greater than 1 year is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Chemotherapy Certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, current nursing and related medical theory and skills necessary to administer nursing care within the assigned clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control practices and clinical systems, supplies and equipment.
