About Halfmore
Halfmore helps parents turn everyday household tasks into lifetime wealth for their children. Our platform enables families to legally employ their children, manage payroll, and contribute to custodial Roth IRAs, a strategy that has traditionally been available only to wealthy households through costly advisors such as tax attorneys and CPAs.
We’ve raised capital from leading investors, including Draper Associates
, Soft Bank’s AI arm Deep Core
, and the co-founders of So Fi . Families across the U.S. are already using Halfmore to give their kids a financial head start, and we’re just getting started.
We’re looking for a Household Payroll Operations Manager, someone who loves details, organization, and solving real problems for real families.
You’ll be at the heart of our operations, making sure every parent we serve is properly registered with federal and state agencies, every paycheck runs smoothly, and every quarterly report and W-2 goes out perfectly and on time.
You don’t need to be a CPA, but you should be the kind of person who takes pride in accuracy, loves crossing things off lists, and feels satisfaction when a complex process runs smoothly end-to-end.
What You’ll Do- Register household employers with the IRS and state agencies (EIN, withholding).
- Process payrolls based on client-reported timecards.
- File quarterly and annual reports (DE-9/DE-9C, IL-941, etc.).
- Prepare and issue W-2s and W-3s each year.
- Keep filings and documentation meticulously organized.
- Communicate with IRS and state agencies to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with our product and engineering team to automate and improve workflows.
- Help families feel confident and supported throughout the process.
- Have 2+ years of experience in payroll operations, bookkeeping, or compliance.
- Have experience with household employment across many different states (Halfmore currently operates in 14 states, and plans to expand to all 50 states by the end of this year)
- Are comfortable navigating IRS/state websites and forms.
- Communicate clearly and kindly with non-experts.
- Love to use AI tools to automate the workflow.
- Are energized by working in a small, fast-moving team where your work has an immediate impact.
