Deputy​/Assistant Attorney

The City Attorney’s Office invites applications for a Deputy or Assistant City Attorney, based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, versatile, and public-service-oriented attorney who performs well in a dynamic environment and exercises strong judgment when navigating complex legal matters. Experience in labor and employment law or litigation is desirable, and municipal law experience is helpful;

however, attorneys from private practice or other public agencies with relevant, transferable skills and a genuine interest in public service are also encouraged to apply.

Deputy candidates will have at least two years of experience as a practicing attorney in California. Professional history for Assistant candidates will reflect five years of progressively responsible experience as a practicing attorney in California. Also requires a JD; must be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of California.
