Position Description
:
Design, implement, and support hybrid and cloud-based middleware and database infrastructure for secure, scalable, and highly available enterprise applications. Manage on-premises and cloud environments (AWS/Oracle Cloud), focusing on middleware platforms such as Web Logic, Apache/Tomcat, Oracle Fusion Middleware, and SOA Suite. Lead modernization of legacy applications by migrating to AWS EC2/ECS environments using containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Support the transition to cloud-native platforms, enhancing system agility and maintainability.

DB), covering performance tuning, schema design, backup/recovery, and security hardening. Ensure compliance with institutional data governance and security requirements. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and Git Lab. Automate application deployment, monitoring, and patch management workflows using scripting languages like Python and Shell to improve reliability and reduce manual effort. Provide 24/7 production support for mission-critical systems, including troubleshooting JVM and OS-level issues, root cause analysis, and maintaining SLAs for uptime and performance.

Design and enforce disaster recovery strategies and failover mechanisms. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, researchers, Dev Ops engineers) to implement scalable, secure solutions aligned with academic and operational goals.

Hybrid - two days a week in office. May telecommute within area of intended employment at employer’s discretion.

Must Possess Eight Years’ Experience With a Bachelor’s Or Six Years’ Experience With a Master’s In Each Of The Following

• Deploy and support middleware stacks (Web Logic, Apache, Oracle SOA Suite) in AWS and Oracle Cloud environments with a focus on availability, security, and scalability.
• Migrate legacy systems to cloud-native containers using Docker, Kubernetes, and modern orchestration tools.
• Design and maintain AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git Lab) to streamline deployments, monitoring, and patching processes.
• Manage Oracle, Postgre

  DB databases with experience in tuning, backups, schema changes, and security hardening.
• Build Python and Shell scripts to automate routine operations, deployment tasks, and system monitoring.
• Analyze system and application performance; implement fixes to reduce latency and improve throughput.
• Remediate vulnerabilities and enforce secure configurations across applications, middleware, and databases.

Must possess experience providing 24/7 support for mission-critical apps, diagnose infrastructure issues, and maintaining high availability and performance SLAs.

The expected pay for this position is $140,600-$174,923 per annum.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire.
