Day - 08 Hour (United States of America). This is a 1.0 FTE Full-time position in Dermatology Cutaneous Surgery (OPC Allied Health) located in REDWOOD CITY, CA.
Stanford Health Care is looking for a MOHS Technician who thrives on making a difference in patients’ lives. A minimum of two years of experience as a MOHS Technician or Histotechnician, along with a valid Medical Assistant Certification, is preferred to elevate our dermatology services. You will prepare and process tissue specimens in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and contribute to patient care and outcomes.

What You Will Do- Proficiency of level I technician skills
- Perform special stains such as IHC, Mart-1, and CK7
- Perform complex and unusual procedures requiring knowledge and skills gained through experience
- Ink tissue according to inking legend and LIP preference
- Draw specimen diagram on Mohs map according to tissue received
- Prepare non-melanoma and melanoma Mohs blocks for permanent sections
- Inputting and filing Mohs maps
- Maintain daily logs (cryostat maintenance, ambient temp logs, stainer log, etc.)
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and process tissue as needed
- Performs other duties as requested
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent Required
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from an approved school/institution or equivalent documented training Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field Preferred
- Histology Technician or Histotechnologist Preferred
- 2-3 years of Mohs Tech experience

- Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to apply it in performing duties
- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the functional area
- Ability to speak and write effectively for the job
- Ability to solve problems and identify solutions
- Customer service skills in interactions with patients, families, and staff, including in high-volume and stressful situations
- Ability to work independently and as part of the patient care team
- Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
- Strong business communication skills, including clear writing of clinical reports
- Ability to learn and update clinical knowledge regularly (Health Stream and other training) to adapt to a changing healthcare environment
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- Frequent sitting, standing, and bending
- Occasional other: walk, reach/work above shoulders, sort/file paperwork, lift/carry/push/pull up to 10 pounds; rarely twist/stoop/squat, knee/crawl
- Lab setting that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated; reasonable accommodations available for eligible individuals
- Category I — Tasks involving exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues

CompensationBase Pay Scale:
Generally starting at $51.33 - $57.82 per hour. Final salary will be set based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
