Join to apply for the System Performance Modeling Developer role at Logos Space
.
Logos Space is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite system purpose‑built to serve the connectivity needs of commercial enterprise and government users. We will fill an important market gap by providing resilient, high‑performance satellite‑based connectivity services worldwide. Business customers have performance‑based contracts and Logos builds these capabilities into the system from the beginning. Logos extends cloud and data‑center connectivity anywhere in the world to fixed, seaborne, and airborne terminals.
PositionSummary & Responsibilities
The Networking team at Logos Space is responsible for ensuring the success of our network through development of software‑defined networking, performance monitoring and other ground‑segment components. It collaborates with other spacecraft subsystems such as RF and power management. The network offers enterprise services at Layer 2, 2.5 and 3, and the role will evolve tools to understand the impact of these services, from conceptual framework to discrete‑event simulation and ultimately to a digital twin.
The Algorithm and Network Simulation Engineer will design, optimise and validate hybrid space and terrestrial networks, developing sophisticated simulation models and algorithms. This is an opportunity to contribute to core innovation of our network architecture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performance Prediction and Strategy Development:
Together with the Networking and Ground segment leads, develop a life cycle plan for assessing the performance of the Logos system, keyed to each stage of development and deployment maturity, and evolve this plan to support the engineering and business decisions required. - Provide Early Evaluation of Network Algorithms:
Initially, develop representations of proposed network formation and routing algorithms to support the Networking team in developing and finalizing these decisions, and assessing the influence on other system elements and performance. - Mature this Capability:
Continue to reflect the network design as it matures into identifying specific data exchanges, message definitions and APIs, continually supporting the network design process. - Introduce Hardware performance models and limitations:
Mature the network model to more fully reflect the design decisions made for payload, bus and ground segment to fully reflect the system performance. - Model System Resource Management:
Analyse load balancing and other resource allocation processes throughout the system; algorithms for network optimisation, resource allocation, routing, congestion control, quality of service (QoS), and security within the hybrid network environment. - Participate in Hardware in the Loop Testing:
As elements of the Logos system are fully realised in hardware, expand the tool to participate in HWIL testing and performance analysis to validate the designs, software implementation, and performance predictions. - Manage Across Tools:
It is likely that the Logos needs will not be met by a single tool, but composites of internal and external tools from vendors and partners. Integrate the best strategy to leverage these resources to support rapid engineering maturation. Work with Vendors and Logos management to make these “Make or Buy” decisions. - Scenario Definition and Execution:
Define and execute a wide range of evaluation scenarios to evaluate network performance under various conditions, including nominal operations, failure scenarios, and varying traffic loads. - Data Analysis and Interpretation:
Analyse evaluation results, identify performance bottlenecks, and provide insightful recommendations for network design improvements and algorithm optimisation. - Support Technology Evaluation through Simulation:
Utilize simulation models to evaluate the feasibility and performance of alternative hardware or software approaches in the Logos system. - Manage the Evaluation Team:
As Logos scales up the level of detail and complexity of representations, lead a larger team to address these challenges by hiring, mentoring and leading this effort. - Collaboration with Engineering Teams:
