The Senior Modem Engineer is responsible for DSP and wireless communication system design, including conceiving, planning, and executing waveform designs, protocol stack designs, and the analysis, fixed‑point design, implementation, integration, and test of Logos payload, terminal, and ground systems. The engineer defines and refines the modem and protocol stack function within the Logos context, sizes it appropriately, and simplifies it when necessary.

Working closely with leadership, the engineer evaluates hardware and firmware platform choices and makes decisions that deliver the best modem and protocol stack outcomes at the fastest program speed. The role demands solving complex issues across satellite dynamics, all modem states, and a wide range of payloads in a fast‑moving environment that turns vague ideas into robust solutions.

• Collaborate with leads on waveform, stack, and modem platform decisions, implementation, integration, and subsystem testing across all payloads and parameters.
• Engineer production‑worthy PHY and MAC designs—both transmit and receive sides—for payloads with varying requirements.
• Produce innovative waveform and receiver designs to operate across a wide range of operating conditions.
• Plan and build labs required for scaling PHY & MAC subsystem testing of the Logos baseband system in transmitter and receiver hardware.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a STEM field with significant experience in system design, PHY and MAC layer designs, and mapping onto hardware and firmware platforms.
• Experience working in a startup context.
• Significant experience in satellite communications and/or terrestrial wireless system design, integration, and test.
• Experience through the entire product life cycle—from conceptual designs and trade‑offs to detailed design, development, manufacturing, integration, testing, deployment, and operations in team settings.
• Expertise in designing complex DSP, transmitter, and receiver algorithms for PHY and/or MAC layers in Sat Com, 3
  
  GPP, WiFi, or cable modem contexts.

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a STEM field with significant experience in DSP, PHY, and MAC designs.
• 6+ years of experience designing, integrating, and testing wireless systems.
• Experience delivering products to production in fast‑paced startups.
