The Controller of Accounting Operations will lead the company’s core accounting operations, with ownership of accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger activities. This role is critical to scaling a high-volume, procure-to-pay environment supporting contract manufacturing partners and a rapidly growing business. The Director will design and implement processes, controls, and systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal controls as transaction volumes and organizational complexity increase.

• Own and oversee day-to-day accounting operations across Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Ledger
• Lead the end-to-end procure-to-pay (P2P) process, including PO-based invoicing, vendor payments, and vendor master data governance
• Manage high-volume transaction processing across domestic and international vendors, including contract manufacturers and key supply chain partners
• Establish scalable accounting processes, policies, and internal controls appropriate for a fast-growing startup environment
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities related to AP, payroll, accruals, prepaid expenses, and operating expenses
• Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, including coordination with HR and third-party payroll providers
• Drive automation and system improvements across AP and GL, including ERP configuration, workflow approvals, and reporting
• Partner with Supply Chain, Procurement, FP&A, and Manufacturing Finance to ensure accurate accruals, clean PO management, and smooth close cycles
• Develop and monitor key operational metrics (e.g., invoice cycle time, accrual accuracy, aging, close timelines)
• Support audit readiness by maintaining documentation, controls, and audit schedules related to accounting operations
• Build, mentor, and scale the accounting operations team as the company grows

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant exposure to high-volume transactional environments
• Prior experience leading AP, payroll, and GL functions in a growth-stage or complex operating company
• Strong understanding of procure-to-pay processes, PO-based accounting, and vendor management
• Experience supporting contract manufacturing or hardware/equipment businesses highly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to build processes and controls from the ground up in a startup or scaling organization
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems and accounting automation tools
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically
