Compensation: $100,000 - $175,000 / year
DescriptionAs an Avionics Electrical Engineer, you will design and test custom circuit boards and other avionics devices. You will work directly with software engineers, propulsion engineers, GNC engineers, and others. You will have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of spacecraft electronics development, from architecting new systems to building and operating them.
Responsibilities- Contribute to new spacecraft avionics architecture trades
- Develop circuit boards for spacecraft, with an emphasis on power and mixed-signal electronics
- Perform rigorous analyses and simulations of avionics devices and systems
- Own hardware from board bring-up and debugging of hardware in the lab through qualification and flight operations
- Establish and maintain high technical standards and mentor less experienced engineers
- Partner with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing and test teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 2+ years professional experience designing electronics for rockets, spacecraft, or other vehicles
- Proficiency with electronic component selection, analysis, simulation, schematics, and layout
- Knowledge of mixed-signal and analog circuit design including analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, opamps, fault management, filtering, signal integrity, etc.
- Hands on experience troubleshooting electronics problems at the board level
- Desire to improve team processes and train other team members
- Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience with Altium Designer
- Experience doing new development work for any of the following: power converters, load switches, engine controllers, processors, or any other specialized area relevant to spacecraft or rockets
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
Flexible schedule and willing to travel as needed
Additional InformationCompensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options
