Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Mechanisms)

Description
As a Senior Mechanisms Manufacturing Engineer at Impulse, you will be responsible for developing, maturing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for spacecraft mechanisms from prototype through flight production. This role bridges design engineering and the factory floor, ensuring mechanisms are built safely, repeatably, on schedule, and to flight-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Own manufacturing processes for spacecraft mechanisms from prototype through flight production
- Develop and maintain work instructions, travelers, and tooling to enable safe, repeatable builds
- Partner with design engineering to improve DFM/DFA, reliability, and production readiness
- Support hands-on assembly, integration, and test of mechanisms on the production floor
- Troubleshoot build and test issues, lead root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Support mechanism-level functional, deployment, and environmental testing
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and configuration control requirements
- Drive continuous improvement in cost, schedule, yield, and manufacturability
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, or process engineering
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical systems and precision assemblies
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T and engineering specifications and procedures
- 6+ years of hands-on engineering experience with spacecraft, satellite, launch vehicle, or aerospace mechanisms
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience transitioning hardware from development to flight production
- Familiarity with cleanroom or controlled assembly environments
- Demonstrated experience with mechanism testing and qualification, failure analysis and corrective action processes, engineering change orders (ECOs) and configuration management
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
Impulse Space's spacecraft manufacturing business is subject to U.S. export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). This position requires applicants to be either U.S. Persons (i.e., U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent U.S. resident (green card holder), an individual granted asylum in the U.S., or an individual admitted in U.S. refugee status) or persons eligible to obtain an export license from the U.S. Departments of State, Commerce, or other applicable U.S. government agencies.
