Primary Purpose
The Redmond Campus Safety Support position provides campus safety services and support to campus stakeholders and the community in the evening during the academic year. The position patrols COCC campuses to monitor and ensure the safety of staff, students, and the public community members by enforcing parking and policy regulations, assisting with facility lock/unlock requests, assisting with safety audits, and assisting with limited data entry, such as completion of work orders.
NOTE:
This is NOT a law enforcement position, this is not a security position, this is a campus safety position.
Campus Safety
- Assess for safety the Redmond Campus facilities and grounds by foot including RTEC, Redmond 1, Redmond 2, Redmond 3 and the Veterinary Technician facility, and inspect campus buildings and property to deter and prevent theft, vandalism, and personal injury hazards.
- Lock and unlock buildings, doors, offices, windows, labs, etc. as required for instructors and events; secure external doors.
- Provide assistance and general information to staff, students and the public as needed. Assist with safe traffic access and egress during campus events.
- Collect and process lost/found property items.
- Assist in medical waste collection/disposal process and other minor, safety-related tasks.
Policy Adherence and Reporting
- Enforce and adhere to college policies and regulations through approved methods. This may include the issuance of citations for parking, traffic and policy regulations on campus. Report policy violations to supervisor for appropriate action and follow up.
- Report and if able eliminate safety hazards encountered through routine observation and inspection while on patrol duties. If unable to immediately rectify safety hazard, submit work order and notify supervisor of any accident prevention activities.
- Report infractions of certain safety regulations, unsafe conditions and potential illegal/criminal acts to supervisor and as necessary, the appropriate department or outside agency, including 911.
