Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor all established quality assurance standards. • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, safety and food safety regulations and company guidelines.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Answer customer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Use product knowledge to provide suggestions and recommendations.
• Inform customers of meat specials and provide accurate portioning of fresh/frozen products.
• Recommend meat and seafood items to customers.
• Use all meat department equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers and ovens according to Company guidelines.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review sell‑by dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Ensure Country of Origin Labels are correct for all meat and seafood products.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and sense of urgency.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notify the appropriate manager of any items needing repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks, issues, customer or employee accidents and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic math knowledge (counting, addition and subtraction).

• Retail experience.
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).
