Position: Usability Researcher (contract)

Usability Researcher (Contract)

A contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.

Summary

We are seeking an experienced usability researcher to join a dynamic team focused on evolving enterprise collaboration tools through user-centered research. In this role, you will drive human-centered strategy and contribute directly to ongoing product development by integrating insights about human behaviors, attitudes, practices, and norms. You will leverage your expertise in evaluative and foundational research to guide near- and long-term product strategy while working closely with cross‑functional teams including designers, product managers, engineers, and data scientists.

This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on products used by information workers, corporate communicators, and administrators worldwide, with a particular focus on modern design experiences and AI‑forward features that drive enterprise adoption.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design, execute, and analyze both qualitative and quantitative research to deliver insightful and actionable results
  • Continuously inform product roadmap development using customer data to identify gaps, pain points, and potential delighters
  • Perform ongoing user experience health studies to evaluate whether design‑built experiences meet appropriate standards for release
  • Partner with team members to identify research goals and plan research initiatives
  • Collect and analyze data to develop research insights and create comprehensive research reports that channel the customer voice
  • Communicate research findings in clear and compelling ways to all levels of the product team, explaining methodology, insights, and recommendations
  • Collaborate across engineering, design, and marketing disciplines to land impacts broadly from customer‑focused knowledge
  • Manage time independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain flexibility in a fast‑paced environment
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in human-centered design, psychology, marketing, or equivalent training required
  • High‑quality portfolio review presentation demonstrating strategic research experience, rationale for methodologies chosen, and communication skills required for interview
  • Five to seven years of hands‑on research and product planning experience in an industry setting
  • Five to seven years of experience operating independently as a researcher
  • Demonstrated experience working on enterprise products related to communication or marketing is highly preferred
  • Prior industry experience required; purely academic backgrounds without industry experience will not be considered
  • Minimum five to seven years of relevant domain experience within the technology sector
  • Minimum five to seven years of experience in research methods impacting both product direction and detailed experience design
  • Hands‑on research and product planning experience with demonstrated skill in collecting and analyzing human behavioral data
  • Strong empathy for users while balancing the vision and constraints of stakeholders
  • Proven track record of operating independently, embracing ambiguity, demonstrating creativity, and being detail-oriented
  • Ability to deliver results in a highly organized manner
  • Experience building strong collaborative relationships with peers and stakeholders
  • Eagerness to learn and understand user audiences, their behaviors, contexts, and motivations across all phases of the customer lifecycle
  • Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies

    Remote fully remote, required for West Coast time zone (will go onsite just to meet the people working with for better collaboration)

  • Pay Range*: $52.50 – 59.50 per hr
