Overview
Lake Washington School District is looking for qualified Speech Language Pathologist candidates for a .6 FTE long-term substitute position lasting from February 2, 2026 - June 17th, 2026 (or the last day of school) at Keller Elementary. The position is currently scheduled for an SLP to work full days Monday-Wednesdays only, but those days are negotiable as long as applicant is qualified and can work an equivalent of .6 FTE (.6 of Full-time employment).

Complies with state and federal regulations regarding special education and the practice of speech-language therapy.
Position SummaryProvides speech and language services in the areas of student assessment, direct therapy, training and consultation for staff, parents, and equipment fabrication or adaptation to enable students to function to their highest possible level within the educational system. Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the assessment and program evaluation for students. Acts as a liaison with medical and community service providers on behalf of children and their families.
QualificationsWashington State ESA certificate with Speech Language Pathology endorsement.
Essential Functions- Complies with state and federal regulations regarding special education and the practice of speech-language therapy.
- Manages a caseload as determined by district need and contract.
- Reviews educational and medical records and performs assessments in the areas of communication - speech, language, fluency, voice, social communication.
- Establishes and supports alternative modes of communication (i.e., assistive technology devices and picture exchange systems).
- Determines educational significance of student's communication deficits in terms of impact on learning.
- Recommends appropriate methods of intervention to remediate or compensate for needs as related to environment.
- Plans treatment programs including establishing IEP goals and objectives.
- Implements therapy programs including direct intervention and/or on-going consultation to classroom teacher and parents.
- Works independently in cooperation with others. Demonstrates professional behavior and judgment.
- Provides intervention recommendations for implementation in the classroom and home.
- Maintains accurate comprehensive records of individual student's progress in therapy within timelines determined by the district.
- Communicates and/or consults with physicians through oral or written reports and conferences to facilitate implementation of therapy programs.
- Confers with parents and staff regarding therapy services and progress.
- Consults with families and community medical and social service agencies in coordinating services and home programs.
- Participates with other guidance team members in the multidisciplinary assessment of students for qualification of special education.
- Provides training and supervision for speech-language interns and/or students.
- Complies with all Medicaid rules and regulations.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Special Services and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
SalaryLong-term substitute assignments in excess of twenty (20) days will be paid at the contract teacher base rate. See Salary Schedules - Lake Washington School District posted on the website. This position does not meet requirements for state health benefits.
