Summary
Reality Labs focuses on delivering Meta's roadmap through creating advanced AI enabled wearables. Our scientists have experience designing, modeling, and prototyping advanced systems. This role is focused on long term research typically aiming for a 5+ year horizon for potential intercept.
Required Skills Optical Scientist, Display Systems Responsibilities
Develop novel concepts, components, and/or system architectures for next generation wearablesImplement proof-of-concept hardware prototypesEvaluate and verify performance of components and/or systemsEngage cross-functionally with researchers and engineers to explore novel concepts that advance the entire pipeline (hardware, software, integration, infrastructure and applications)Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experiencePhD in Optical Sciences, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related degree and/or equivalent work experience3+ years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines: geometrical, physical optics, computational imaging, nanophototics or micro-optics emphasizing modeling and hardware prototypingExperience with programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, and Mathematica)Demonstrated experience in optics and display fundamental understanding including display optics, imaging, illumination, radiometry and colorimetry, physical and geometric optics, and polarization, and enabling 0 to 1 type of innovationsExperience working, communicating, and collaborating in a cross-functional environment with minimal directionPreferred Qualifications
3+ years of experience in definition, characterization, and optimization of near-eye display systems3+ years of experience in working with emissive sources for near-eye displays (lasers and LED’s), spatial light modulators, diffractive optics, photonics, metrology methods, and optical materials3+ years of experience in design and modeling near-to-eye display systems, or in fabrication and functional testing of novel optics and photonics components, devices and architectures3+ years of experience in one or more optical design tools such as COMSOL, Zemax, Code V, Light Tools, FRED, ASAP, Lumerical, or Virtual Lab, and AI assisted designs3+ years of experience in developing prototypes and collaborate in a team environment across a broad set of disciplines including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, and OpticsProven track record of achieving results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at workshops or conferences (eg. SID, OSA, IEEE, and SPIE)Public Compensation
$154,000/year to $217,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
