Mission Overview
Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity beyond the reach of existing networks, serving households, schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies in remote locations.
Responsibilities- Develop advanced materials and processes for cost‑effective, reliable satellite production.
- Conduct hands‑on laboratory testing and failure analysis of flight hardware and raw stock materials.
- Develop next‑generation materials to improve satellite performance.
- Collaborate with external vendors to establish process control and identify new opportunities for product development and improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in materials engineering, metallurgy, materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 2 years of experience with materials selection, testing, and processing/fabrication methodologies such as casting, stamping, coating, and cleaning.
- 2+ years of experience with electronic materials, magnets, contamination, composites, additive, or polymers.
- Experience with statistical analysis and experimental design.
- Familiarity with metallic and nonmetallic materials used in spaceflight hardware.
- Experience in characterization techniques and equipment (SEM‑EDS, FTIR, DSC, TGA, LFA, rheometry, spectrophotometry, optical microscopy, hardness testers, and mechanical property testing).
- Ability to interact with and convey concepts to all levels of the organization.

CompensationOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
