RC Operator is an engineering hybrid that exercises skills across many domains including Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, and IT. You will monitor, document, log, and troubleshoot a wide variety of industrial instrumentation mechanical equipment, electronic monitoring, metering, controlling and signaling devices used in the operation of Building Automation Systems and Critical Environments. You will command and control complex HVAC, lighting, and mechanical systems, and must have a basic understanding of these types of systems.
This position is fully remote after a two‑month training period but the selected candidate must live in Washington State.
- Utilize multiple building automation platforms
- Remote monitoring of building management systems
- Respond to an alarm triggered by building management systems, diagnose root cause, and dispatch a technician or engineer as needed
- Make adjustments or changes in the operations of equipment via the building management system
- Take appropriate actions during escalating or cascading events by following standard operating procedures
- Log and document events and create a history or timeline of events over the course of your shift
- Make technical and administrative decisions on the fly based on circumstances and established procedures
- Assess performance of mechanical/electrical systems and make adjustments to improve performance
- Apply in‑depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions
- Coach others and share in‑depth knowledge of own job discipline and broader knowledge of several job disciplines within the function
- Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values
- Build consensus and convince others to reach an agreement
- Impact a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and related teams
- Work within broad guidelines and policies
- Explain difficult or sensitive information
- Mechanical understanding of equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air handling units, and terminal cooling units
- Fluid dynamics and heat transfer fundamentals
- Ability to respond to dynamic system faults and casualties and maintain critical environments
- Proper escalation and management of casualty events
- Extensive knowledge of energy conservation guidelines
- Ability to review equipment for optimum energy strategies
- Setup and troubleshooting of current Microsoft OS and Office environments
- Ability to interpret complex system reports and analyze for optimum performance
- Support mechanical technicians on system repair/operation
- Train mechanical technicians on control system operation
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4‑5 years of job‑related experience. A combination of experience and education is acceptable. In lieu of a diploma, experience may be considered.
- Ability to exercise judgment based on analysis of multiple sources of information
- Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions
- In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Advanced organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset
- Sophisticated math skills; ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial‑related calculations
CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Global Monitoring Technician position is $30 per hour and the maximum salary is $38 per hour, depending on qualifications. This role includes benefits such as 401(k), dental, health, life, and vision insurance.
