Lead Construction Inspector – Seattle/Redmond, WA
We are seeking an experienced Lead Construction Inspector to join our team in Seattle/Redmond, WA to oversee a federally funded bridge construction project for a local municipality, including work over I‑5. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring compliance with WSDOT specifications and managing inspection activities across complex, high‑traffic infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Perform detailed inspections of bridge construction activities, including structural components, materials, and workmanship.
- Ensure compliance with WSDOT specifications, federal standards, and project requirements.
- Serve as the lead inspector, supervising and guiding a junior inspector.
- Provide training, feedback, and quality assurance to inspection staff.
- Prepare daily reports, inspection logs, materials acceptance, and compliance documentation.
- Communicate findings to project managers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Document completed work and support the preparation of field note records for the monthly progress payment.
- Monitor construction activities for adherence to safety standards, traffic control requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with contractors and agencies to resolve issues promptly.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, conduct, and adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 11 years of inspection experience in bridge construction projects.
- Proven experience with major highway projects (preferably I‑5 or similar).
- Strong knowledge of WSDOT specifications and federal construction standards.
- Ability to lead inspection teams and mentor junior staff.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
- Experience with federally funded infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with traffic control plans and highway safety protocols.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Certifications in construction inspection or quality assurance (WSDOT or equivalent).
- Washington State Professional Engineer (PE).

CompensationExpected Rate: $50.33 – $75.05 per hour. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
