Job Title: Teacher – Grade 5 or Grade 6
Position Type: Faculty, Exempt, Full-time
Reports To: Division Head
Salary Range: $64,000 to $92,600 Annually

The Bear Creek School is a Christian community seeking to add a member to its teaching team. Teachers use a classical Christian education model to teach students, develop virtue, and help students grow into the individuals God intends. Lessons are planned to inspire and motivate, supporting students in reaching learning outcomes. A successful teacher creates a nurturing environment where all students feel known and valued.
Responsibilities- Plan and develop an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices, set grade-level curriculum, and school guidelines
- Design and present individual lesson plans in one or more academic subjects using varied teaching techniques to meet diverse learners
- Prepare materials for lessons, assignments, and assessments
- Evaluate, correct, and grade student performance
- Support students with academic difficulties or behavioral problems as they arise
- Monitor students’ progress throughout the year and evaluate preparedness for next grade level
- Communicate progress and concerns with graciousness and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and administrators
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents
- Enforce safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors
- Maintain required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other records
- Monitor halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff
- Participate in faculty meetings, conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training
- Maintain knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in middle and upper grade education
- Perform related tasks such as sponsoring student activities or organizations

- Bachelor’s degree required
- Teaching experience and/or certification preferred
- Familiarity or experience with the classical Christian education model preferred
- Hold CPR/AED/First Aid certification (with epinephrine autoinjector supplement) or obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date
- Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer (sponsorship is not available for this position)
- Positively support the school’s policies and practices and work collaboratively in a professional organization

- Able to use strong written and oral communication skills to transfer thoughts and express ideas
- Flexible and adaptable in dealing with new, different, or changing requirements

- Familiar with Microsoft Word and Outlook, ability to learn and work with the school’s integrated data-based software package as needed
- Adhere to biblical standards in all areas of conduct
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust tone and height to teach each child
