Old Redmond Schoolhouse (part of the Redmond Learning Community)
b $32.26 (SC11 Salary Schedule). Position eligible for membership in Lake Washington Service Employees International Union.
Essential Job Functions- Work with special education teacher to construct a daily schedule of classroom routines and activities.
- Prepare and implement lesson plans.
- Interact positively with all children to support their individual learning and meet their emotional needs.
- Communicate regularly and respectfully with families and involve them in the education program.
- Make ongoing written observations of individual children and develop a learning plan within six weeks of school entry.
- Provide a curriculum and environment, including a multicultural environment, to meet the needs of every child, including those with disabilities.
- Conduct developmental screening after training on standardized tool, re-screen and make referrals as necessary.
- Recruit and train volunteers for the classroom.
- Encourage and support families in working toward their goals.
- Participate in and support family involvement in all aspects of the program; attend at least one parent meeting per year.
- Maintain complete records on each child, stored confidentially.
- Attend staff in-service training and apply knowledge to ongoing work in the classroom.
- Basic reading, writing, math skills; basic computer and email knowledge.
- Ability to communicate essential oral or written information in fluent English.
- Ability to work effectively with children, families, community members and staff of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to relate positively to children and adults; work as a team member.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to provide training and support to volunteers.
- Willingness to obtain a First Aid/CPR card.
An Associate's degree (AA) or higher, or two years of study equivalent to 72 quarter credits, or an ETS Para Pro Assessment score of 461 or higher. Official documentation required upon hire. Prefer one year of experience plus a CDA Certificate or willingness to obtain an ECE degree.
