The Position Purpose describes Customer Service/Sales associates who provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. These associates learn about products using our tools and provide information to customers in order to sell an entire project. They greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department and know how to handle basics in adjacent departments.

Associates maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and ensure it is clean, shop-able, and safe.

All associates are responsible for providing a safe working and shopping environment by following safety policies and standards, completing required safety training, correcting hazards or reporting them to the Manager on Duty, and working safely to avoid endangering themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers. They work in cooperation with their Department Supervisor and other department associates, as well as other departments. Specific store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental.

Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

• Provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess needs and provide assistance.
• Learn product information using available tools and assist customers to select products for their projects.
• Greet, qualify, recommend and close sales within the department and assist with basics in adjacent departments.
• Maintain in-stock conditions, ensure cleanliness, shop-ability, and safety of assigned areas.
• Follow all safety policies and standards and complete specified safety training.
• Report hazards or unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty and work safely to protect customers, co-workers, vendors, and themselves.
