We are searching for an experienced Mold Maintenance Technician at our Redmond, Oregon facility. The Mold Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, refurbishment, and build of molds used in rotational molding. This position is a key member of the maintenance team and works closely with the rotational molding ("oven") team to ensure all molds remain in excellent working condition. The role requires responsiveness to production needs as well as proactive planning and execution of mold maintenance.

In addition, this position is responsible for firing up the ovens prior to the start of the oven room shift, ensuring ovens are warmed, functioning, and ready for production.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mold repairs, refurbishments, and assist in the build of new molds.
  • Fire up and prepare rotational molding ovens before the oven room shift begins, ensuring equipment is safe, operational, and ready for daily production.
  • Work closely with the oven team to support daily tooling needs and respond promptly to mold-related issues.
  • Conduct proactive, scheduled preventive maintenance to extend mold life and reduce production downtime.
  • Inspect molds for cracks, wear, deformation, or surface damage; determine and execute appropriate repairs.
  • Utilize TIG (wire-fed or stick) and MIG welding to repair aluminum and steel molds.
  • Sandblast molds to clean, prep, and properly finish surfaces according to specifications.
  • Apply finishes or coatings as needed for mold performance and product quality.
  • Maintain accurate documentation regarding mold maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment activities.
  • Keep work areas organized, maintain an orderly mold storage process, and track mold condition.
  • Support the oven team as needed during peak periods or special projects.
  • Follow all safety policies including PPE standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe equipment operation.
Requirements
  • Prior welding experience (TIG and MIG).
  • Ability to weld and repair aluminum and steel molds.
  • Experience with sandblasting or surface-preparation equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage both reactive and proactive work.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable working early shift hours (2:30 AM - 11:00 AM).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with rotational molding molds or similar tooling.
  • Background in metal fabrication, machining, or mold building.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and weld symbols.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Note:

    Specific training will be provided on the company’s mold repair, refurbishment, and finishing processes.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb, or work in tight spaces as required.
  • Ability to work in environments with heat, noise, or dust (PPE provided).
Work Environment
  • Industrial manufacturing environment, including welding, sandblasting, and rotational molding operations.
  • Frequent interaction with maintenance and oven room teams.
