Job Description
Director, Manufacturing is responsible for leading and executing strategic process improvements across all AAON production facilities. This role oversees the design and implementation of manufacturing systems, automation, and production standards to ensure operational excellence, product quality, and cost efficiency. The position plays a critical role in aligning manufacturing capabilities with business objectives, driving innovation, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. As a senior leader, this role also supports cross‑functional collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
PrimaryDuties
- Plan, prioritize, and manage enterprise‑level manufacturing process improvement initiatives.
- Lead the development and execution of automation and control strategies to enhance production efficiency and consistency.
- Define and enforce standards for quality, process control, and documentation across all manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate new products and features into manufacturing in a structured and scalable manner.
- Provide industrial engineering support and coordination to internal departments to optimize resource utilization and workflow.
- Analyze warranty and aftermarket service data to identify and implement corrective actions in manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate and coordinate with external vendors for the acquisition and implementation of new or replacement manufacturing equipment.
- Monitor and interpret government regulations related to manufacturing and ensure timely compliance.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuous learning and industry engagement.
- Travel as needed to evaluate new technologies, equipment, and methods that support AAON’s manufacturing advancement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a four‑year ABET‑accredited degree in engineering with significant experience in manufacturing technology; 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, including leadership of large‑scale initiatives; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Advanced degrees and certifications in quality control or advanced manufacturing are preferred.

This role requires strategic thinking, technical leadership, and the ability to manage complex initiatives across departments and locations. The Director must be capable of balancing high‑level planning with hands‑on engagement in manufacturing operations.

- Sit or stand for up to 95% of work hours
- Regular visits to manufacturing facilities with exposure to seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and chemical fumes
The Director, Manufacturing operates in both office and production environments, with frequent interaction across departments and facilities.
- Work is performed in a combination of office and factory settings
- Exposure to loud noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when on the production floor
- Frequent collaboration with engineering, operations, quality, and executive leadership teams
- This position is designated as a safety‑sensitive role and is subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing
- Compliance with all company safety and operational policies is mandatory
