Pay range: $24.44 - $30.55
Position OverviewThe Medical Assistant will be responsible for daily patient flow for each physician they work with. They must use triage skills to gather information that facilitates appropriate patient assessments and anticipate physician needs related to the patients’ medical care. This position does not manage other caregivers.
Essential Functions and Duties- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for physician assessment.
- Record and maintain patient medical data in the medical chart.
- Assist physician with answering phone requests from patients and other medical professionals.
- Perform a variety of physician-requested ancillary and/or surgical patient procedures (excluding administration of IV medication).
- Maintain equipment, instruments, and supply inventory levels.
- Support the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects.
- Support Lean principles of continuous improvement, functioning as a champion of change.
- Provide and maintain a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
- Conduct all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; report known or suspected violations; cooperate with investigations and proceedings.
- Deliver customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient, and accurate.
- May perform additional duties of similar complexity as required or assigned.
Required: High school diploma or GED.
Preferred: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Licensure / Certification / RegistrationRequired: Current MA Certification from AMT, NCCT, AAMA, NAHP, NHA, or licensure as an intermediate or paramedic level EMT, Oregon LPN, or Oregon RN; AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification; ability to travel to St. Charles Health System worksites.
Preferred: Current American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification.
ExperienceRequired: Basic knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions and procedures; working knowledge of medical practice management information systems; basic knowledge of physician office documentation standards; must maintain confidentiality and meet all HIPAA requirements.
Those candidates with NHA certification qualified due to work experience rather than graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting Program will be required to have one year of experience in Medical Assisting.
Preferred: Two (2) years of Medical Assisting experience.
