On behalf of a leading name in the logistics sector, we are seeking an experienced Transport and Warehouse Planner to join their Redditch‑based team. This is a critical role that sits at the heart of the operation, reporting directly to the Transport and Warehouse Planning Supervisor.
The Role:Key Responsibilities
- Route & Fleet Optimisation:
Planning and optimising HGV routes to ensure maximum efficiency, fuel economy, and strict adherence to delivery schedules. - Space & Capacity Management:
Designing and implementing efficient storage layouts and slotting strategies. You will be responsible for forecasting capacity and recommending improvements for storage density. - Compliance & Monitoring:
Overseeing the fleet to ensure total compliance with maintenance schedules, legal requirements, and drivers' hours regulations. - Operational Liaison:
Acting as the primary point of contact for drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to ensure smooth material flow and resolve any delivery challenges. - Performance Reporting:
Utilising WMS and TMS tools to generate utilisation reports and monitor KPIs, including cost-per-pallet, throughput, and overall efficiency. - Risk Mitigation:
Identifying potential bottlenecks or capacity issues early and developing robust contingency plans for breakdowns or delays.
- Proven Experience:
A strong background in logistics, HGV route planning, or fleet management within a busy office environment. - Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in MS Office (specifically Excel) and hands‑on experience with TMS and WMS systems. - Analytical
Skills:
A problem‑solving mindset with the ability to analyse data to identify cost‑saving opportunities and process improvements. - Organisational Excellence:
The ability to multi‑task, remain focused under pressure, and adhere strictly to regulatory processes. - Qualifications:
A qualification in logistics or supply chain management is desirable, as is a valid UK driving licence.
