This is a key role within the Engineering and Maintenance team, responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of electrical systems and production equipment across the site.
The Role
The successful candidate will play an important part in maintaining and improving site equipment performance, with a 70:30 bias towards electrical engineering, while still supporting mechanical maintenance activities where required.
Working closely with production, maintenance, and technical teams, the Electrical Engineer will help ensure minimal downtime, improve asset reliability, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment
Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production machinery, control panels, and automated systems
Support mechanical maintenance activities where required across the site
Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to minimise downtime and maintain operational performance
Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of new equipment and machinery
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve machine efficiency, reliability, and safety
Maintain accurate maintenance records using site systems and documentation processes
Ensure all engineering activities comply with site safety procedures and regulatory standards
Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions following equipment failures
Participate in improvement projects aimed at enhancing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
Key Requirements
Proven experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment
Strong electrical engineering background (approximately 70%), with good mechanical knowledge
Experience with PLC fault finding, electrical control systems, and industrial machinery
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
Experience with preventative maintenance systems and continuous improvement practices
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Ability to prioritise workload and remain calm under pressure
Proactive, reliable, and demonstrates a strong "can-do" attitude
Electrical engineering qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND or equivalent are desirable.
