Orion is working with one of the UK’s leading specialists in the design and manufacture of bespoke Test & Assembly systems in various industries, with particular expertise in Aerospace. They have over 50 years of experience in the industry. Due to an extended period of growth, they are now seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team.
About the Role of the Mechanical Design EngineerThey are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Solid Works and experience in designing for manufacturing. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and refining mechanical designs for various components, including machine parts, enclosures, fixtures, fittings, tanks, and pipework. You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs meet technical specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilitiesof the Mechanical Design Engineer
- Create detailed mechanical designs using Solid Works, focusing on bespoke test systems, fixtures, machine parts, enclosures, and pipework.
- Conduct design reviews and iterations to refine solutions based on testing feedback.
- Select appropriate equipment and collaborate with manufacturing teams or subcontractors.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation such as design specifications, assembly instructions, and fabrication drawings.
- Work in close collaboration with project engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure design integration aligns with project objectives.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree or a relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically using Solid Works.
- Proficiency in Solid Works for 3D modelling and drafting, including producing manufacturing drawings with set tolerances.
- Strong understanding of machine parts, assemblies, tolerances, and mechanical engineering principles.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
