SummaryThe Service Manager is responsible for maximizing the profitability of the Service Department while focusing on customer satisfaction and retention. This position requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to connect the Service Department’s performance to the success of the entire dealership.
Responsibilities- Deliver prompt, dependable, high-quality service for all customers
- Drive department profitability while meeting gross profit and net profit objectives
- Maximize productivity and efficiency of service technicians
- Oversee workflow, review work-in-progress, and ensure timely, quality repairs
- Partner with the Parts Department to streamline service parts flow
- Manage customer interactions with professionalism including greeting, scheduling, follow-up, and complaint resolution
- Grow service volume through campaigns and collaboration with Parts and Sales
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient shop environment
- Recruit, hire, coach, and evaluate service staff; provide training and development opportunities
- Monitor employee performance and ensure policies, procedures, and standards are followed
- Develop and maintain department objectives, reports, and budgets in alignment with the General Manager
- Ensure all end-of-day reports are completed and accurate
- 5+ years progressive experience in a dealership service department (motorcycle or automotive)
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with a track record of coaching performance
- Proven sales and service management background
- Harley-Davidson service knowledge preferred or ability to quickly learn
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; dealership management system experience preferred
- Ability to balance, push, and load an 800+ lb motorcycle
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license with motorcycle endorsement
- Passion for motorcycles and the Harley-Davidson community
Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs
Regular handling of motorcycles and shop equipment
Work near moving mechanical parts, noise, exhaust fumes, and chemicals
